Who's behind it

Colofornia Dreaming is a collective of citizens who revere this Republic and believe in the Constitution as written, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, free markets, and government that stays small and close to home. The name says what worries us: Colorado drifting toward California-style government, one "good idea" at a time.

The site also keeps coming back to one historical comparison. From 1889 to 1920, Russia went from reform movements to revolution to the Cheka. That record is worth knowing when American socialist movements make similar promises today.

Our mascots

• Lock the Jackalope is named for the flintlock musket. He's hard to find and harder to disarm.
• The Common Sense Lizard (Lacerta sensus communis) is endangered, and it's the only known natural predator of the Good Idea Fairy.

Standards

• Every factual page ends with a Sources box, and we link primary sources wherever they exist.
• Quotes are word for word from the original or a reliable reproduction. If we can't verify one, we leave it out.
• Satire is clearly labeled and aimed at ideas, policies and public actions, never at private individuals.
• Corrections: if a source doesn't support something we wrote, tell us on X at @CDCR4440. We'll fix it and note the change.

How the wiki is built

These pages are plain Markdown files built into a fast static site with MkDocs and the Material theme. The site has no ads, no trackers and no comment section.
